I say he got off easy.It could have been a troupe of hamadryas baboons or a bunch of mandrils.
Years ago when I was a kid there was a story on the news about a guy who jumped into the lions pen at Melbourne Zoo and tried reading the bible to them. If I recall correctly he didn't die but may have been injured? I don't remember 100%. But people do some pretty stupid things at the best of times.
