Fans of the 80's show should remember Jim Rockford's chariot,a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Formula in Seirra Gold.It was one of three Firebirds used for the show and actor James Garner bought this one after the series ended in 1981.
Barrett Jackson has it up for auction.

Nice. I didn't realize they used at least 2 different year Firebirds. I thought it was just the 74?

I knew you would enjoy this,Rock....hate to admit it but I always thought that his car was a Camaro.

73 and under are more my tastes. I wish I could get a 455 ho
 
Hello; I watched the Rockford Files back in the day. I was still a young man. I like the way the car looks but 70's cars were mostly dogs when it came to performance. They were the ones that would run on after the key was turned off. This was after the government and the insurance companies killed off high performance to a great extent.
I think it was sometime in the mid to late 80's before there was some snap back in an engine. I would like to have the car as long as I could do away with the 70's smog stuff.
