On the Rio Araguaia, I wish...
Atabapo II*

Any better pics? How big is it currently?

I've always waited for someone to post pics of mature Atabapo II that have really colored up because for the longest time these were considered the most red of the Atabapo pikes but to date I don't think I've seen any nearly as vibrant as the Atabapo I in captivity.

I’ll put up some better pics, he’s certainly not shy. The most expensive fish I have ever bought but worth it. Always busy but can nip fins of other fish

It seems to take a lot longer for Atabapo 2 to get their red, maybe a combination of diet, soft water, and tannins would do the trick. Jan would be the one who seem to have kept ones for the longest period.

I would agree my Atabapo I female was showing decent red at 7-8" and by 12" was solid reddish pink versus Atabapo II at 7" show almost zero red, only really seems to come out when they start to get over 10-11" and even then in the captive specimens I've seen isn't nearly as vivid as the wild caught specimens.
