Red atabapo 1 but need to see the dorsal up. If it’s got a white lining then it’s a female. If not white lining then a male.

Cool thanks. If any white at all means female, then that’s what it is. Because there’s white there, albeit very thin and faint, not much at all.

Females get more colorful (brighter red) with this species correct?

The dorsal for female Atabapo1 are black on top, white in the middle and red on the bottom.

i've now had it a week and it is far more red since it has gotten comfortable. it puffs out it's fins from time to time and i see no black on the dorsal. so i'm confused.

it's still a young. The young do not have full coloration or patterns of sub-adults or adults.
