Woodcat with Tattered Fins and Single White Bump

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The white bumps on his actual body are natural markings as you can see from the picture I supplied in the picture in the original question
White bumps are natural coloring.

The bump on the dorsal fin is likely from contact/rubbing. Clean water and monitor.

Hey. I’ve just moved my woodcat into my 90 gallon (major upgrade) and I just thought. If you look back at the pictures, does it look like fin rot? Or just tattered fins?

Look more like tattered fins.

I just looked at him again today and his tail fin has a little chunk out of it which is rimmed with white. Is that fin rot?
Not really. Should have a peeling look to it more than chunk taken out.

Hard to tell with those pics. Thankfully catfish heal well. Make sure it eats and keep the water clean.

If it was fin rot what would be my best course of action. I could move him to my quarantine and do a half dose of myxazin

You can cont with clean water and salt (1 tsp per g). This works well. If not then can try triple sulfa or furan.

I’d be scared to use salt with my catfish. Would myxazin work? I used it for my betta with fin rot before and it healed well. It contains 545mg/l malachite green and 340mg/l of Acriflavine hydrochloride. There is also minimal formaldehyde as a stabiliser.
