  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah I Know. You can really see where Blood parrots and Mammons get the shape from. Here's the person who posted them on their Instagram, if you want to you can probably contact them. I'm not going to because I don't have any tank space When I have tank space instead of starting with a red Texas project like I originally planned probably gonna start with a short Body Midas one instead. Even though I don't usually like short bodies there is something just so captivating about them

By the parrot shape I mean the very round ribcage area. Here's a picturesketch-1585182188616.jpg
In other short bodies like flowerhorns their bodies look like this966226-958011074cf05c5f8521e24cd9608180.jpg
You can tell that the short body Midas and short body Midas based hybrids have very round bodies with large round ribcage areas, while flowerhorns have smaller stomach regions. I think that stomach area is the reason blood parrots live longer even though they have very short bodies. They have more room for their organs while other shortbody fish have bodies that aren't as tall and they have smaller ribcages, so they have less room for their organs and that shortens their lifespan.

What do you think about my bonsai. Same coloration and inset eyes. Very round ribcage. Could he also come from a midas/mammon?

Since he is a fader he probably does have a lot of Midas since I believe the fader trait comes from them. He probably will live as long as a average flowerhorn as long as treat him as well but still take into consideration that his intestines and stomach are smaller, so he probably won't be able to process food as well, but I've never owned a bonsai FH before so I can't be sure about the lifespan. If you breed him I would recommend not keeping any fry that have shorter stomach areas or any health problems. Better to sacrifice an entire spawn if necessary than the health of a line.

Pretty cool guy, I think showing traits on fish introduced many genrations ago is possible that's why we see more trimac in few flowerhorns than others. Might be that case here as well. Is that the same fish in your current display picture?

You could be right, which is one of the main reasons I enjoy breeding. Seeing what was upstream.

No.. the fish in display is a Golden Base I just put a deposit on. It's basically mine. You wouldnt believe the price before shipping. ?

Remember when you last asked me how many FH males I have? Well that number has tripled. ??
