One of my rays shoots water out of the tanks and soaks the floor. The tank has a 5inch inside euro brace lip at the top and a reasonable lid. The lid is not water tight as I have found out.

my crappy solution is to line the tank with towels to catch the water. Anyone have a similar experience and more specifically a good solution.

Do you know anyone who does custom lids in the area - tank is approximately 5 foot by 6 foot.

I have a lid on the tank that was made for the tank but I guess I could try and get a more water tight one.

as for the rays, pm me and I’ll tell a few connections for rays . That particular classic Leo p13 ray is from a guy named Stan in Louisiana.

I have a bunch of other rays from other places as well - no one local though.

I’ll reach out and see if the guy I know can make something for you...

I've never had a ray that 'shoots' water out of a tank like an archerfish does, but my ray flapd about on the surface and causes quite a stir, especially when he comes up for floating food.

It appears that your water is very close to the top and I would suggest to lower it, not sure if that's feasible for your situation.

I have a built in overflow box in that tank that I’m not not sure I can lower than tank level. Interestingly, in my other large tank pictured in the response , raising the tank level stopped the rays from flopping around on the sides as much but different overflow system.

I think your suggestion has a lot of merit but I am not sure if I can do it in that tank. Any suggestions on how? My flow rate has to be high b/ I have high nitrogen/ ammonia producing fish.

You're kindda stuck if you need the water level for the overflow. Sounds like you need some kind of splash screen or silicone a glass brace.Screenshot_20200418-153219_YouTube.jpg

Omg, are you sure your tank is not leaking? ?
100% sure but when it first happened that was a thought. It’s been going on for over a year - i watch the ray doing it and when I move the ray to another tank no issue but unfortunately this ray fights viciously with another so cant be in the other tank.
