I like the planted plan! Yes to planted if you can!
Totally agree. I'm going to start planting my tank next week as my light is coming to morrow!

Well you should be good with rhizome plants such as anubias (different varieties), java fern (different varieties) and Bolbitis (african water fern my personal fave).

Aponogeton has delicate leaves that rip easily, so I wouldn't recommend. But crinum natans or calistrium would work...

Maybe amazon sword....
Crypt wendtii....

Not sure about stem plants, but you could try them if your bichir is not that into destroying plants.

But for now, I suggest the heavier rooting plants and I'd plant them in pots to keep them more anchored. All my sword pants are in pots in my 120g. Makes it easy to move them if I have to!

Fyi, I dirt the pots and cap with sand and gravel. I plant the plant out of the tank and add the whole pot to the tank. I planted that tank while it was still in operation with stock.

Eso son bastantes plantas

Btw rhizome plants are tied or glued to hardscape. You can't bury the rhizome or the plant will melt with no water circulation around it.
