It’s a wild caught parasitic catfish from South America. The have small sharp serrated teeth and are know to hinge into the sides of fish no matter how big it is and do death rolls. About 3 rotations per second and remove large chunks from the side of the fish…. This guy is new to an aquarium he’s not used to it yet…. YES IM SCARED TO PUT MY ARM IN WITH IT. Until he calms down gets used to being in a fish tank and not eating live then yes I will definitely be fine with putting my arm even head into the tank with him but right now this thing is still a wild animal just in a smaller space. Trust me dude I’ve seen this thing with my own eyes in action eating a fillet. It’s terrifying to imagine that being your arm. Around here in my town and family I’m know for doing absolutely stupid stuff just for the fun of it. I love the adrenaline but I recently had a bad experience at a hospital and don’t want to go back any time soon lol
gulper cats have better eyesight and are also from the Amazon. A death roll like this and having the ability to swallow things twice his size is quite impressive.

im trying to convince my mom to drive me to a pet store to see if there’s anything that catches my eye.
probably shouldn’t get anything else. I’m almost positive he got too stressed and died

Don’t get anything new yet. It’s best to wait for this tank to settle first/and make sure it wasn’t a water or disease problem that killed him.

Where in the tank did you find him?
Often how they look/where they are can tell a lot.
I found my piranha dead right next to a wall in a plant. Not a scratch on him. Best I can figure it got scared and swam headfirst into a wall, in such a way that he got concussed and died.
