Hey everyone,

I haven't posted in awhile, been busy with life and such, as i'm sure we all are. At any rate my Carpintas have stopped eating. Now I noticed they were eating slower than usual awhile ago but thought nothing of it because I moved them to a new tank. Well now they have fry and are barely eating. I'll put a few pellets in and they may be gone tomorrow, they may not and I end up having to net it out because it becomes fuzzy. I've tried Cichlid Delight grow pellets, Haliari Gold pellets, and lastly Omega One flakes. I even tried feeder fish prior to them breeding and they totally ignored them. (Barred Midas Fry I raised myself) I am at a lost, all my other fish eat any and everything. Never had this happen so i'm getting worried, it also appears they have eaten some fry, not what I wanted them to do however I waited to long to move them so there everywhere.

Thoughts?

Never leave uneaten food in the aquarium it will jeopardize water quality. Fungus will infect and kill fry. Not unusual for the parents not to eat while concentrating on the fry.

Agreed, that’s why I have been checking every morning to make sure I get it out. ?? However, all my other fish with fry are quick to eat and blow the crushed food thru there gills for the fry, never seen anything like this. ??‍♂️

Is this the first spawn?

I asked because you stated they were eating fry. First time parents need experience but some get it right instinctively.
I agree 100%, I’m just happy they did so it confirms I have a pair. Next time I’ll move the spawning pot to my grow out tank once there fertilized. ??
