Hello,

I recently bought a new home in which I inherited about 50 koi. Although the they are beautiful, there are too many in one single pond. I am hoping to sell about 40 of them.
I’m happy to provide pictures.

Thank you for your help in this matter!

PS - I put $100 since I didn’t know the price.

You can email me at sparkyfbc@hotmail.com

You could probably sell some for a very large sum of money. You'd be surprised how much a large koi costs. I would suggest advertising an assortment of koi on social media, and they can come over and take a look at them, and individually price them, or bundle them. I would 100% do some research on different koi, as there are many different koi (Kohaku, Shusui, Chagoi, Ogon, to name a few). 100 bucks id dirt cheap!

I fully understand. I put $100 because I had no idea as to the value of the fish nor did I mean it as a price for everything. I tried to edit the post, but can't seem to figure it out. Looking for anyone in the LA area that can help me in this matter.

I know you what you meant. 100$ each. But it is crazy to sell the for only $100 each. If you have Facebook and Instagram you can get lot more money for them. If you need help I will PM you number who can help you find buyers who pay more money. But. Like I said if I had a koi pond. I would of bought them 100$ each with no questions. ?

One must have 5 meaningful posts in hobby forums to have the PM feature unlocked. The MarketPlace and the Lounge don't count.

Those are overall good quality koi with a number of them, AFAI can see, of great quality, the latter would be priced at $500-$1000 at your local pond shop if they are around 1.5 ft. You, not having the traffic of a commercial shop, could aim at lower pricing and perhaps keep lowering it slowly until sold. As you wish. Craigslist and other local classified including on social media would be your best bets.

The medium quality similar koi at 1ft-1.5ft we adopt out at our rescue usually for $30-$125.

Overall, yes, the pond appears overstocked and need to be thinned asap to avoid bad things happen. I'd feed VERY SPARINGLY, and I'd look at the filtration to see if it is sufficient, buy liquid tests and test the water for ammonia and nitrite and nitrate, also KH, and pH.

Most serious koi people that pay a lot for them are very picky on what they put into their pond. They worry about KHV which is very contagious and deadly. Of course quarantining maybe a good idea but testing for it is the best if the fish has value. The color on decent Japanese koi’s have a certain look to them with vibrant and bold patterns along with body shape/weight. Solid white and speckled patterns are not indication that they are high quality. So putting a high dollar on something that is not desirable is not realistic. I’m sure there are some koi shops in your area. Talk to them and see what they say. GLWS.
