new tiny teugs

Well so far so good but so tiny my intentions are to put these in my 240g with my ornate but don't know when that will be as my ornate is now pushing past the 9 inch mark . Don't know how big these can realistically get in an aquarium I know in the wild they can get big but these are CB .

no but I put some blood worms in last night some were still there today so removed them I have placed some finely chopped talipa in , one had pooped earlier so maybe they are eating.

Thanks I noticed these baby teugs still have their external gills was wondering if they have these gills so that they can get air from the water column instead gulping air from the surface where predators may get them.

I remember having small cb Ornate bichir and saw one still go to the surface.

yes they still come to the surface just saw one do it.

My cbs got to about 18" with in 18months. So probably the supposed 24" or so max size would be credible. What I've read about on line in the past is bichirs come from low o2 content water. The external gills help them while they rest and grow to extract as much o2 as possible.

Oh I see they have to be one of the most fascinating fish in the hobby I can spend hours watching them in my tank.

Thought I would do an update on the 3 teug bichirs got them on 30th sept 14th of october will be 2 weeks 2 have put on good size in that time but the 3rd one is practically the same size. I have seen the other 2 eat but the small one seems to spend all its time floating in the horn wort. my worry is that if it doesn't put on some size it may be eaten by one of the bigger ones here are few more shots couldn't get too close as they dart off.
