Goonch are probably my dream cat. Right now I only have an unknown type of Chrysichthys, but I’m hoping it’s one of the smaller types. But I’ve had a malarmo ( smaller type ) , horsehead pim and few other types of uncommon pims I can’t remember and many types of synodontis. I also had a black giant wood cat. I recently moved out of state and had to start over lol
Awesome i love Chrysichthys i own one too and i can’t identify what type he is. Looks like a flathead catfish kinda but gold and white coloring. Yeah im moving currently so its hard moving the fish too

Do you have any pics of your Chrysichthys? Here’s mine, maybe you can tell which type I have
I had made plans to move all my fish, but just planning it made my head hurt, so I sold everything lol

i can take some photos of him tomorrow for sure but i would say yours looks like a Chrysichthys longipinnis. Or Aluminum Catfish.

Thanks, that’s actually where I got mine, I just didn’t think the dorsal was tall enough to be a longipinnis and the seller didn’t know much about them. It’s super active though, is yours active? I’ve read that many aren’t

Mine has eaten some of my clown loaches in the past and hes very territorial and aggressive and he only stays under one log. He’s very active at night but not during the day time. Honesttly theres alot that we dont know about Chrysichthys catfish. Heres a photo i found of mine in tye bag while acclimating. I think hes a chrysichthys cranchii

Yours definitely looks a little different than mine. Very cool! Mine has been getting a little territorial lately but hasn’t eaten anyone, but i it has a small mouth like a syno. I keep it with some geos, hujeta, HRP and a half banded pike and it sometimes chases the HRP and geos, the pike doesn’t take any crap from it and the hujeta are always at the top. Ya it’s tough finding info on these.

Nice that sounds like an awesome set up u got there. Yeah mines about 12 inches currently ive had him for a while really slow growers. But eat like crazy im putting him in my 300 gallon pond soon so maybe hill grow even bigger. Yeah i didnt realize how big mine is going to get. Supposedly theres not alot of them left in africa so there somewhat rare.

Thanks! I went from 10 tanks to 3, so I had to make them count Lol
Eat like crazy is an understatement, mine is like a vacuum. I’ve also read they grow super slow. Where did you get that guy? I never even heard of them until i saw them pop up at exoticfishshop and at Jason’s
