What is the shipping cost roughly? That's honestly the main reason why I don't do it online normally. I'm kinda of scared about the shipping costs as I don't have a huge budget.

Plenty of good ones, really depends on what you are looking for.
Aqua imports
Exotic fish shop
Worldwide fish and pets (I got my Amazon pufferfish and red wolf from there and would 100% order again)
The wet spot
Imperial tropical (mostly cichlids I believe)

Just to name a few
Imperial is great for cichlids- especially rifties, but Snakeriver, Southeast and Ron’s are much better IMO

With exotic fish, you could be paying that cost per fish - just saying. Many stores have a price at which shipping is free. You can get lucky with cheaper shipping, but often that is for bulk or the store may not be as reputable.
A red wolf goes for 45-80 depending on size and subspecies (purples and the recent orange ones).

Those are good, Jonas is good for natives, exoticfishshop is great for oddballs. Have you thought about a rift tank maybe a peacock, mbuna or smaller tangs or even a Victorian breeding group?

Can African cichlids be kept with anything else? For example, a bichir, or my striped Raphael?

The only thing I’d keep Africans with are synodontis. Not all Africans are compatible with each other either tho
Tampa bay cichlids has free shipping at $125. Exotic fish shop has a $20 shipping option but it’s 3 day, I’ve never had an issue with it

I would think a raphael with Africans would be fine, there isn’t much they don’t do well with. The trick with a bichir is that the cichlids would either be liable to abuse the bichir or get eaten.

I’d agree, except do you think the Rafael could handle the super hard water Africans need?

I already have super hard water. And it's perfectly fine in it...so I think it can deal with the cichlids. I just have to get a decent-sized bichir and decent-sized fish to get rid of both problems, lol.
