Male.
Males will get that blueish hue of tint on scales especially being over dark substrate such as yours.

Thank you for the response! I appreciate your input! I’m definitely hoping for Male but the torpedo shape along with some vertical black striping has me worried a bit.
Your tetracanthus is very young, maybe too young to have developed a steeper cranial profile.

his mate is only @ 4-5".

Don’t males also have patterned gill plates (as yours does) and females have more smudgy gill plate color 
As females mature, the colors on the gill plates become more solid.
When immature, as above its hard to determine, but as maturity sets in, distinctins are more clear.
