Hi everyone I recently bought a brand new fx6 (4 months ago) and cleaned it out 2 months ago and since then it seems like there’s always air trapped inside! I’ve done what it says to do on YouTube ie turn inlet off let it purge and then power it back on but it happens the same within 24 hours!! Also the outflow is rubbish! I’ll see if I can add a video to show the flow!! Any ideas on how to fix this? Many thanks

Not sure how to add a video ! But trust me the flow is merely a dribble

Do you make sure to fill the canister most of the way after servicing? Also...no major loops/bends/drops in hoses coming off the filter.

Have you checked the impeller itself to make sure something like a blade didn't break off?

Just a few things to think about.

Edit: I also noticed your intake and outflow are close/next to each other. Is It possible that the intake is ingesting some of the turbulence from the outflow, creating air bubbles?

In addition to Q quikv6 input…You don’t turn the inlet off to purge air, both intake & outflow shuts offs need to be in the open position in order for the air to be forced out.

Hi thanks for your reply
I think when I last cleaned it out I didn’t fill the canister up (I think I just opened the inlet and let it fill up that way) since realised that I should’ve filled it partly with tank water! There’s no bubbles actually coming out of the flow only when I shut the inlet off and turn the power off and it purges itself! Just watched a video on YouTube where the pump has bits of sintered glass media in there which I have (eheim substrate) so could be that I’ll check in the morning!
Again thanks for your reply 👍🏻

Sorry only just seen this reply 🤦🏻‍♂️ on the video on YouTube ( think it’s kaveman aquatics) he just shuts off the inlet and then turns off the power opens up the inlet again and the air comes out then turns power back on and the air is released! Hope this makes sense 👍🏻

I’m thinking it could be media stuck in the pump tbh after watching that video on YouTube! The outflow isn’t pulsing it’s more like a constant slow flow!

Looks like u have a finer sand… id check the pump housing/impeller to see if its full of sand. Ive used the older fx5 for 15yrs now… had this happen 1 time. Also for the fastest flow take out any mechanical media in the center trays. I just run the outer sponges they come with and all bio media in the middle trays… bio balls, ceramics etc…
