Hy, just wanted to make a shout out to about this album. You have some amazing animals. Love the turtle also. I actually had a question regarding your gar. About 8 months ago I purchased a gar identical to yours, however, it was mislabeled as a spotted gar and the owner even tried telling me it was an alligator gar which you and I assume both know it is not. Upon further research I've had a very hard time getting a positive ID on this guy and was wondering if you knew the official name. I believe I've narrowed it down to 2 possibilities. The first is a south american species and is actually part of the characin line similar to the hujeta gar, or silver pike characin. Which would mean that it isn't a gar at all and would remain a moderate size around a foot or so. The 2nd and least likely is a juvenile long-nosed gar. It i really difficult to find accurate information on the internet. So, I was hoping you could shed some light on the matter. Either way I'm going to post images of my fish along with some of my other fish. I would definitely like to see more pics of your fish a they mature if you get a chance. Anyway, thanks again and look forward to hearing from you.

So, I finally think I have found the species name. Atractosteus tropicus Tropical Gar. Let me know if that sound accurate to you.

Can't tell for sure without a pic from overhead. The rostrum on gator and trop gars are far wider than in other species.
