Just wondering which species you guys think is most likely to be the one in the Marble x RTC hybrids like the one I have. I am posting pics of all species listed and one of my hybrid for comparison. I did not include the species Perrunicthys perruno, for the simple fact that it's so rare in the hobby and I have yet to see any confirmed pictures of one besides in some old books I have. The choices will be.

Leiarius pictus

Leiarius longibarbis

and Other (just for you guys who like to argue)

Note: This is just for fun I doubt that a real decision will be made, but lets all play nice anyway. If you are going to argue other at least tell us why!:naughty:

I think you need to post a pic of an adult pictus for a more fair comparison (for those who don't know what they look like), but my vote goes to L. longibarbus.

my guess is L Longibarbus. They seem to be more common than the pictus.

great question

the top pic is a very juvinile Leiarius pictus

and a perruno

Those are all juvenile fish. I'll try to get a better pic of a pictus, but The only way to confirm a true perruno is dorsal fin ray count. If it's less than 11 you're golden. That pic is way too small for that though. I have seen numerous pics of supposed perrunos that all turn out to be L. longibarbis. Planet catfish even took down their perruno pics after I pointed it out, but they never sent me a response saying anything about it. They just all of a sudden didn't have pics there anymore and some of the pics found their way to L. longibarbis. I'll try searching for some confirmed pics though. That one does look a bit different than L. longibarbis.

Zoomed in on that pic and appears the dorsal ray count is 12 or 13 for soft rays, very typical of L. longibarbis. P. perruno typically have 8-10 soft rays.
