Snook

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think it was mentioned that it was a black snook. Appears to have one short spine in front of the dorsal. I didn't realize there were that many different ones out there.

Were you ever given the collection point? I know the swordspines sold were from the Atlantic side which makes me wonder if they all were. Maybe fugupuff can shed some light on that.

Maybe it's just me but I don't care where they're from. I see...I like....I buy. However, I did get a swordspine at the same time which died because it didn't get enough to eat due to it's shyness. Just opposite of this one.

I wasn't offended. I'm just saying. It's all good. I hope you find the one you're looking for.

ah., got a few mails about it thank to this discussion. I got these fish alongside brokopondo cichla from the river emptying into the ocean I guess. I actually received 4 different species from there, swordspine which were obvious, then a taller body one, and theses, which were the largest, and one with some just in the middle.

I have a swordspine that I got from Wes and he's doing great. He's about 9" now but won't eat anything but live so I've had be very precautious about my feeders. I've actually started breeding convicts for feeders.

Mine took FD krill and pellet but he was not quick enough with the cichla and severum. Water current helps with feeding non-live.

I've got 2 power heads with the current and tried floating pellets with no luck. I had a yellow perch that ate krill all the time but the snook never ate it because of the perch...I may try it again now that I don't have the perch anymore.

I've really looked close at your pictures and based on the collection point data I am 99.9% you have a Mexican snook (Centropomus poeyi).
