I used the UV steralizer for about 9 months before the bulb finally blew. The ballast, glass sleeve tube and washers are all in excellent condition. The only issue with the UV steralizer is that it needs a new bulb. You can get a new one on Ebay for $18.50 w/free shipping. I'm throwing in a Aquila Powerhead and about 10' of Eheim hose just in case you want to run it separately from your filter. I ran it inline with my FX5 out-take.
