Datnoid Island
A guy local to me is selling a 14" for $40. Sounds like a good deal and it's so ugly that it's cute. I'm thinking about picking it up with 2 red hook silver dollars for $50. Can someone tell me if this is a good deal and if there is anything special I should know about this driftwood catfish? Thanks.

As far as price they are rare in my area of the US and one that size would sell for 60 easy. As far as how it will act what is it housed with now and what do you plan to house it with?

I currently have an 8-9" Indo Dat, a 5" Indo Dat and a 4" NTT dat. I have a 3" Frontosa in there as well but he could be relocated.

Please read the Husbandry and Compatibility section here: http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=965

You might also wanna find this thread: (See Keepers section) Marc van Arc, who also notes: "Never kept an Auchenipterid for such a short period. Swimming she-devil. See thread...."

Marc is a highly experienced expert on wood cats.

As for the price, I don't know. All I can say if the fish is in excellent shape and health, I'd pay $40 for it. From all my experience, this fish is quite rare (just as the datasheet I linked above states), which makes this deal all the better for you.

Yea I actually did read that article and that's really the only reason why I'm hesitant. I just don't want any of my smaller Datnoids to go missing or else I would have bought it yesterday.
