I just picked up an nice sized L25 and and been told it may chew up my acrylic. I currently do not have any driftwood in tank . Its eating pellets already .
I had several in my 500 gallon acrylic, but had lots of wood, but that's not to say it can't happen as they can go anywhere in the tank and latch onto it. The bigger they are the more damage they can do.
Maybe strategically decorate the tank? Lots of light near the front pane, so it doesn't go near the front when the light is on and scratch it. Lots of stone/driftwood to protect the side. A good cave near the middle.
I always thought that if I ever get another acrylic tank, during the build if I gave the builder a sheet of glass that can fit inside the tank for the front and sides, if that would be a quick fix to plecos chewing craters in the acrylic.
