These are my kels. Seeing if anyone can get a type of Kel outta these pics. I am seeing some patterning similarities to the Rio doce kels. I have info on them other then they are kels.

I'm not seeing the comparison to the Rio doces. All kels hold some sort of similar traits but based off of the head and body shape plus the pinched tails which is a common diformatity with a lot of Bahia, I'm leaning towards they are Bahias.

Im going to guess your normal duck lipped bahia. You have some very nice bass gorak gorak just enjoy them as they age. And yes...bass are like a fine wine that get better with age as many have said.

Not the best photos of mine but just for reference. Alot of kelberis will develop lines in their tails which then break apart and turn into spangling. The first 2 photos are a itapanga and the last 2 photos are menias gerias.

This is what my kels looked like when I kept them before. I had a few and got them at 6". They looked like lightly spangled monos when I got them. They are why I have 5 now...lol...

I sold it. I had twins. The guy I sold them to killed them. It was 12" in the pic if I remember right. It was a 180gal

It may be possible to distinguish between batches but identifying collection points out of pictures is damn near impossible. This becomes a problem when people stroke their egos with collection points that aren't accurate and sell them as such just because they were told that's what they are from a forum. (not saying you're going to do this--but it has happened many times)

If you really want to know with certainty where your fish were collected ask whoever imported them.

I am just wondering for my own sake. The guy I got them from said he has no info on them in terms of collection points, types, f1 or f1000000. So in the end I just hope they turn out as nice as the old ones I have. Like I have mentioned they are kels and that is what I bought them as so I am happy.

I know what you mean though about egos and having this or that. Then selling them as something they are not as the value could be more as this vs that. Happens alot around here with all sorts of different fish. Especially with wilds vs cb.
