You will know soon if they are fertile or not. But from what you've described I wouldn't count on the male doin his job without them being a bonded pair. I hope I'm wrong. Good luck, keep us posted

As more and more of the eggs began to turn white my hopes faded... I actually gave up on it, but left it as is... Today when I checked it in the evening at a glance I thought it was all over....Then I took a very very close look and there they were 4 FRY wiggling!!! :) Now I know my Male Flowerhorn(whatever breed he is) is FERTILE and so is the female(a given). Next time I will be home to release them together :)
