Single Canister Filters for a 125 Gallon

I'm moving my 125 Gallon tank to the living room and sprucing it up some - 3D Background, matching canopy to the stand. Making it all pretty like as best I can. I currently have 3 Filters on it (2 x AC110s and 1 x SunSun 304B) and 2 Heaters, but since the tank is going to be front and center, I don't want to have so much equipment showing.

I don't want a sump as I get many power outages during the summer, and even setup correctly I'd still be worrying every time if I'm going to come home to a flooded floor. So I'm looking for a single canister solution that can keep up with an overstocked 125 gallon tank.

Once I get the list, going to do some price searches and basically the one I can get for the best price is what I'll be doing. Figure with Memorial Day there might be some sells going on that I can get in on. So, the list so far..

Fluval FX5, Fluval FX6, Eheim 2180, Eheim 2262

Love that the 2180 has a heater built in, so leaning towards that if I can get it for a good price. Again, trying to show less equipment and keep things quiet.

If you already have a SunSun 304B, I would recommend just buying another one and running two of those. I know it's not a single canister but i would think both of them should fit well inside the stand. If you're going to keep it very lightly stocked then a single 304B will be alright. Moderate to Heavy stocking should have two of them though.

If you truly want just a single canister then the FX5/6 or the 2262 are probably your best bet.

Looking at the 2262, the hydor 300w in line heater is the same hose size as the outlet - would this kill the flow of the filter much?

Forgot about those inline heaters, and I know the FX5/6 can't be used with them due to the ribbed hosing.

Eheim 2262. I use rings, poret foam from Swiss Tropicals, and Pond Matrix in mine. Search for any posts by "deeda" on here. She's the resident expert on all things Eheim 2262.

I"m running a single fx6 on my 125g. It's slightly overstocked but I have never had water problems.

You can't really go wrong with the fx-5 or 6. Use 1" vinyl tubing on your return line with an insert poly reducing tee and run the smaller tubing (3/8, 1/2, ect) through an inline heater. If you run the fx5 through bulkheads, you will minimize all equipiment showing in the tank.

I run a FX5 on my 240 and the tank looks like crap. Water quality is good, just not enough movement to get all the "crap" picked up. Am working on a DIY filter right now.
