Hello all

Super excited about my new tank. not new to fish but I am new to drilled tanks. Looking for a little help or insight to help me get through this without a bunch of water on the floor. currently resealing the 180 gallon tank. The filter I am going to try and use will be my trusty fx5.

To the question, how do I transition an fx5 to pvc piping??? does any one have any success pictures I could use as reference? or is this just simply not an option?

mine runs into a sump, but it's the same idea connecting flex to rigid tubing. I'm not sure how well it will work. I've seen pictures of it working, but I've never done it.

I took my bulkhead fitting to the store and basically built it all there and then took it apart and put it on my tank. I would take the fx5 tubing to the store along with the bulkhead fittings and build whay you need to connect them. do you already have the stand pipes?

Hi. I use 1" vinyl tubing to "hard plumb" my FX-5's to my systems. Just use a 1" pvc hose barb / insert adapter to connect the tubing to the pvc pipe or bulkhead fitting. 1" tubing will fit on your FX-5 valves, just remember to use hose clamps.

This is a super easy upgrade that you will like, say goodbye to the ugly fluval ribbed black hose!

Why? Running the pipe is the hardest part of installing a sump. If you're gonna do the hard part, why not go the last yard and make it a sump? It'll be a lot easier to clean, and you can keep fish in it, too.
