Hi all, I'm new to the freshwater fishing seen. I've always done pier fishing, surf fishing, jetty and taking the 1/2, 3/4 and full day boat trips. In and around Long Beach, Seal Beach, Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach.
My question is where can I go for trout, bass, tilapia or bluegills? What's the best bait to use and will my surf fishing gear work? I have 8' Shimano Teramar paired with a Curado 300DSV lined with 20lb. Braid.
Should I get lighter gear?
Finally, where's a good spot to catch these freshwater fishes? I've gone to el dorado park and Cerritos regional man made lakes. Only caught catfish....
Thanks for any help....

Pyramid Lake, Castaic Lake, or Puddingstone Dam are all good choices for Bass.

I would try and downsize to a 200 size reel and a rod that fishes 10-15lb line class.

Good luck!

you can catch Large Mouth bass in most park lakes but during summer month they only get stocked with catfish. Trout stocking will begin usually in November once the water is cold enough and will last till around late April.
