What do I need to have to start up a really good Piranha aquarium tank?

First and most importantly is learning about the nitrifying cycle of an aquarium. Secondly how large is the aquarium you plan on putting the Pirahna in for life. You will need a heater, gravel or sand, thermometer, water conditioner Prime is highly recommended a test kit API is what most use. . Once your aquarium is fully cycled then you can add your Pirahna.

Go buy a very large aquarium...like 240 or bigger. They do best in large schools and get very big as adult fish. It may sound extreme, but you have the opportunity to start right. Taking your time and getting the proper tank and set-up is key to your success. You can end up with something really nice that you can enjoy for a long time to come. I've kept piranhas in the past, they are generally very shy and easily spooked. The larger the tank, the more natural they act. If I had it to do over I'd definitely go with a 240 or bigger.
