Hello; I get why running batteries in series can not work. For example two 12 volt batteries in series will give 24 volts if memory serves me correctly.

However two 12 volt batteries in parallel will still give an output of 12 volts. A difference will be the total amount of useable energy should be doubled. Another possible way to think of this might be that if one 12 volt battery will run the equipment for 24 hours then two in parallel should go about twice as long.

Been a while ( a decade or few) since I did much with this sort of thing so my knowledge of current battery technology may be outdated.

You would runt he batteries in parallel.
But the output from the ups is AC NOT DC
You in theory could maybe parallel these but I doubt the electronics would allow it.

Fix your water issue. Get as mall ups to run an air pump, and you'll be fine.
