How big are people seeing fahaka get in aquaria?

Mine is starting to make his 75g look a little small, and I haven't been able to find a good deal on a 120 in a while.

I have a 180 I've been meaning to setup, but had other ideas for it, and have been thinking about getting some quotes for an acrylic tank since I can't find anything used.

Looking to get something big enough to not have to upgrade for him again, and a 4' 120 doesn't seem terribly much bigger footprint than a 75.

I was thinking more like a 48x30x24h if I'm having something built. Curious if anybody else has any input.

I would honestly say min 180G for a full grown fahaka... my old girl hit 14"+ before she passed away and its not uncommon for them to reach 17"-18"

The 30" width and 24" height sound okay, but if you could make it 6' - 7' long it would be perfect

Homer is exactly right! Mine is 3 years old and somewhere between 16-18 inches and built... she makes the 220g 7x2x2 I have her in look a little cramped sometimes. But she is very happy and well feed.... people say 120g minimum but that would make a very unhappy fish... I would say mine is a min for a proper happy fish.

Makes me glad I went with a Spotted Congo Puffer for my 75 gallon, even tho I REALLY wanted a Fahaka!

Puffers are funny in the sense you often dont realize how much space they take up till they get healthy and gain some weight...

Thats when they really start filling out tank space rather quickly imo...

Guess I'll just put that money towards setting up my 180 for now and see how long that lasts.

Thanks dude, she is like a rugby ball! My fish keeping pride and joy... she is only Just 3 years old so I am hoping for a monster!
