Mussels in Aquariums?

Anyone have any tips on keeping freshwater mussels in an aquarium? I know they need lots of phytoplanton, but I was thinking of putting seting up a second tank in a window as an algae culture, and then slowly circulating the water through the tank holding the mussels via airline tubing. Any thoughts?

Very difficult, I have been keeping fish for 55 years and so far my success with mussels is zero. Asian clams are easier but only by comparison...

I've tried it hundreds of times, they live well outside in ponds, asian clams actually reproduced. Many different species...
