Hi all,

Haven't been active as much, so thought I'd share my current tanks and developments; I'm more planted/nano these days, so figured this would be the most apt section...

i love your aquascapes. Do you do WCs on the betta/shrimp tank? Is the Multi tank one of those "chopped ten" 5gs? Can you post a picture where we can actually see your clown killies? How do you make the blackwater in there?

Thanks!

I do 50% water changes on the betta/red cherries, once every fortnight; adding some plant ferts and dechlorinator :)

Multi tank dimensions are 20inch length, 14inch width, 8 inch height; my pal had it made then I ended up with it.

I've not added the killi's just yet, I've got 2 in quarantine with more arriving next week; i'll get a pic as soon as they're in :)

The best way I've found to do the blackwater effect, is I get large bunch of indian almond leaves (catappa) and boil them in a pan with the lid on. Leave it overnight to cool, in the morning the water the leaves are in will be dark, dark brown. Add this to the tank right after a water change, and it gives you that very authentic look; furthermore, the almond leaves have fantastic antibacterial properties and lower the pH.

I've got some of the blackwater extract on order that has fulvic and humic acids etc, but I have a feeling I wont be a fan; the boiling leaves method feels far more natural.
