Im so confused by this...12" single cardinal? Hmmm... let me run some numbers. According to InchPerGallon.Com you should be ok with a 12 foot x 6 foot tank, 1 foot depth. Make sure you have a large sump underneath containing a piraiba for Amazonian balance. I had a cardinal before, got to about 10 inches but lived only for a few months. I had it in a custom enclosure from Living Color Aquariums.
