You will almost never see haitiensus in local fish stores, unless they specialize in rare cichlids.
Even as youngsters, they will kill each other in the confines of a normal size tank, and the temps needed to keep healthy, are higher than most LFSs are willing to provide.
In too low of water temps, they seem to not be able to process protein, so they die of bloat.
And if they are put into a community, if they can't kill everything else in the tank, they die themselves from stress when young.
Before I ended up with my pair, I killed 19 of 20 before figuring out how to properly keep them.
