Terrestrial Garter snake I believe

Head is much too wide for a garter of any kind.

I still believe that it is a terrestrial garter snake. garters flatten them selves out when they feel threatened they do it to look bigger and more intimidating that little one doesn't look to happy to be in that net.

Terrestrial garter snake, Thamnophis elegans. This specimen is displaying a Batesian mimicry defense behavior; it has flattened it's body in order to attempt to look more like a rattlesnake.
