Can’t say I’ve ever seen this thread this dead but have a few reports. Boat was out of service at the beginning of May and throughout the month. Had to jump on a party boat to seabass fish. The bite was okay nothing spectacular water was unseasonably cold with surface water at 53 degrees so sluggish bites. Did mange a few keepers and the largest at 18”. Went to Charleston SC and went out on a private charter and did well reef fishing caught redfish, seabass, spadefish and a storm was rolling in bringing us inshore and caught some sharks and a few speckled trout. June is go time for flounder and with the boat running got out 4-5 times. Caught keepers most trips just not the crazy good action I had last year. Largest back bay fish so far is 22” caught by my girlfriend. Did hook into a monster that came in buttoned before I could see it in 20 FOW. A few days later a 30” flounder was caught in the area. I know I was into a good one just don’t know if it was that good. Most trips the winds were against the tide making drifting miserable which sucked but always nice catching fish on tough days. Hopefully some wreck/reef and tuna fishing in store for July.

No surprise on the bad days, but enjoy what you can, likely the fishing will only get worst for the more desirable species, due to both low recruitment and the fact that saltwater fishermen always want a few fish in their cooler.

I’ve been off the forum for awhile since I haven’t been keeping fish. But I logged on today so I’ll toss an update up.

Some fish I have caught recently. Unfortunately the bilge pump on my boat kicked during one of our wonderful Florida summer storms. Got a call at 8am saying my boat was taking on water. Thankfully I got there and was able to get it floating again quickly. Insurance replaces nearly everything but the engines which we were able to save. Should have it back in the next couple weeks.

Peacock spawn is in full kick. They’re everywhere.

Lately it seems as if I have lost more monster fish than I have caught. Lost a giant bull shark last week off the beac as well as a 100+lb tarpon. I have lived in Florida for a little over a year now and I am 0-9 on tarpon lol.

Tight lines everyone

Here’s a few of my catches from the last few weeks. There have been a lot more, mostly hybrids, but it’s a pain to get the phone out every time. Still looking for my green x bluegill. Haven’t caught one in a few summers. But the bluegill this summer might mean hybrids next summer.
