Well praying I didn’t kill my aimara. I was swapping out the filter cartridges in my auto drip and need to remove the drip emitter because it got clogged. Figured I would let run wide open for the day allowing for a big water change.

Huge mistake. Apparently the water was so cold it dropped the temp in the tank from 76 to 66 over a couple hours. I have since shut it off and letting the heaters the temp slowly. It’s back up to 70 and should get up to 76 over the 4-5 hours.

He looks fine but who knows. What a stupid mistake.

Imo you'll be alright, I've done similar between all the broken heaters. Never seemed anywhere near as bothered by it vs hot water

Exciting times everyone. My aimara is getting a new home!! I begin install my 530g this weekend and hope to have it running by Wed/Thur. Until then my aimara has been moved to a 40g breeder. I measured him last week at about 15in. Hopefully with the new tank he will continue to grow like a weed.

Well my aimara is really not a happy camper in the 40g tank. He already has a chimple from rubbing on the glass and refused food today. The food is surprising because he hasn’t eaten since wed/thurs last week and normally he gobbles down 20 Massivore pellets a day.

Praying I can get this new tank up and running this week so I can move him over.

Can't say I expected him to eat in the tank. But I didn't expect him to rub the glass thought he'd be lazy of anything

This tends to always follow me and watch me. Now that he’s in the small tank he’s doing it more. Especially because that’s next to the big tank and I’m spending hours there trying to get it setup.

Aimara really isn’t happy. Worse part is that it’s taking longer for the tank. I probably won’t have it running until mid next week.

You can see how light his color has gotten.
