LFS had a couple aros in, 2 were listed as "Red Spotted Arowana" which I'm guess are just Jardini. This one looks like he has a major spine injury though. He swam and ate just fine and wasn't discounted at all at $399.

Any chance he grows out of this and straightens up?

The red spotteds are leichardti, not jardini and that is probably an irreversible birth defect.

Your LFS are scums if they want to sell the deformed one for 399 I wouldn’t feed that to my fish

I remember seeing something like that too. I believe it was a super red and it had a big horn looking humpback. I think it was valued something crazy above normal crazy high Asian prices.

The fish in the links was from Quian Hu, one of the larger aro farms in Singapore. I've also seen "Siamese twin" aros that are joined at the body and have two heads. Those were also crazy expensive.

The super red with a big hump back is called a "king arowana". They are usually shorter bodied.

Recently I learned of some Asian arowana cross backs that are intensely tanned with powerful lights such that they go blind. The physiological response of the fish to such intense prolonged light is to make the fish colouration go black.

I would not personally buy such fish, but someone must or they would not be produced.
