Hi All,

I have this Vieja Argentea and she has a weird growth under her left fin. She is also not growing at the same pace as my others and has developed a couple other bumps on her body. I have her in a hospital tank but I’m not even sure how to treat it. Is this an illness or a deformation? She is eating but also has pretty rapid breathing :-/

Sorry for poor quality pics the hospital tank is under my stand next to sump so it’s hard to get a good angle.

Thank you,
Matt

The growth looks like (Lymphocystis) a non lethal viral growth. It's more or less a fish specific cold sore. There is really no treatment other than providing the best environment and nutrition possible. With a strengthened immune system, the growth might eventually heal.

Okay great, thank you both. I will just keep her in the hospital tank and see if it goes away over time.

Thank you again
