Hi everyone I'm new to keeping bichirs and had a few questions if you don't mind.

I currently have a small senegal in a 55 gallon (about 3 inches) and I decided to order a Delhezi online to add to the same tank. Is there anything I need to watch out for when I introduce the new bichir to the tank to make sure they get along? The new bichir is supposed to be about 4".

Also as far a acclimation, is it the same as any other cichlid or is there any special care?

The plan is to grow these two a little more before moving them into my 90gallon.

Thanks!

Not much to watch but just watch out if nipping gets out of hand.

Interesting. Thank you for all the replies!

So its basically dependent on their personality for the most part?

Are there any agreed upon ratios that seem to work often? I wouldn't be opposed to maybe adding one more but I wouldn't want to overstock my tank.

I think with a 90 you should be fine as long as they grow at around the same rate. What do you have for filtration? And I think as far as a good number, I think it was anything more than 2, right tlindsey tlindsey ?

Yes more than 2 would make things easier for the polypterus and yourself.

Right on. Maybe I'll look into adding one or two more then. Thank you!

For filtration I have a marineland 150, an aqua clear 110 and a small canister on the 90.

For the 50 I have two canisters going.

I used to keep Africans in the 55 and an oscar on the 90 so I had to get solid filtration to keep up lol.

Nowadays I'm just keeping a few central Americans and now getting into the polys :)
