I know I could easily vent this fish but it's a real pain. He or she is already skittish and tends to hide most of the time. I dont want the fish to constantly be in fear.
I still think male. I have never seen a female with spangles evenly covering their entire body like that. In addition, there is no “blue beard” present on this fish which you will see on most females. I have seen both males and females with similar body shapes.
Spangled behind the eyes; lack of spangles on lower cheek and around mouth; pointed dorsal and anal fins, are all characteristics of a male JD. The rounded tail fin is more consistent with female JD' s.
My guess is male.
I'm thinking a Male as well I have a breeder with a female EBJD what do you think of my chances of success breeding the two? If not I'll find a female blue gene
I've raised two EBJD' s, both males. One lived four years, the other five. They both acted like regular Jacks, other than being smaller, so im guessing breeding is possible. Never added a female with mine.
