The mutant is definitely worth growing out, if only because it's so weird, do you think the large eyes could be from the bubble eye gene?

Possibly, or maybe most likely. Lol
I haven’t put him in the pond just yet because he is such a weirdo.

While on the subject of mutants. This next one was a huge disappointment. Horrible fan and the mouth is all jacked up. But.... great body shape and the tail has a nice high V coming off the body. Not a droopy tail like a lot of fancies have. A complete waste. He was tossed in the pond ment to be eaten, but has been thriving. So I tossed him back after taking pictures.

A group shot of the ones I had put out in the pond. I missed at least one other koi, but maybe next time I’ll get him.
You can see mr. disappointment in the bottom right with his mouth open.
I’m keeping the two koi on the left side in the house. I want to see their patterns develop and fatten them up. They have kept pace growthwise with the ones inside, but are much thinner. The other three went back in the pond.

A bit over 3 months old.
(The smaller ones in the bucket picture are from the second spawn.)
The middle me I’m holding onto for sure. The other two are kinda messy, but I’m waiting to fully pass judgment on them.

3 and 9 are the ones pictured singly above. I suspect they may turn out to be ochiba’s. I may hold onto these two.

Update on the babies.
The goldfish and hybrids are all gone now. They went to a couple I gave goldfish to last year. Well, all but one. I accidentally squished one against the glass while trying to catch it. I felt so bad. It was spiraling:( then the little butt perked right up that night. Ugh, so one left. It’s scales look really shiny though so I’ll see what happens with it.

These are the koi I’m selling.

This is a group shot with the ones pictured above. The biggest one in this picture I didn’t take an individual picture of it.

Those koi came out really nice!
growing up my dad kept koi and some of his fish were close to if not over 3 feet.
We always anticipated to find fry at some point but with an 8' deep pond we never found any. My guess is they all ended up as lunch.

It must be fascinating to watch them grow and develop this way, good luck with your keepers!
