Looks like an injury from lip locking that's infected, hence why it is still swollen looking. I would try something mild like Seachem Paraguard, which needs to be dosed every day so buy enough. I would also have Seachem Kanaplex on stand by just in case it gets worse or the Paraguard doesn't do anything by day 7.

Skip ahead to kanamycin. It's almost certainly a bacterial infection which Paragard won't treat despite Seachem's marketing claims.

Odd that it’s still like that after two weeks. I agree with S squint , seems fungal (mouth fungus) or bacterial if anything so I’d also skip Paraguard and go directly to Kanaplex (Kanamycin).

You might be able to use salt as a first step but am not 100% certain with mouth fungus. Anyone have any thoughts on whether salt would help or not?

Salt is more for external infections and this infection looks fairly deep in the tissue.

Offhand, I can't think of any reason you can't use salt and antibiotics at the same time though.

So I would use antibiotics or antibiotics + salt.

Of course, the best option would be to find an aquatic vet. I've had good results with them.
