These are the mounting lugs for where the backpan would mount. They need to be cut off.

I originally planned to cut them and grind them down, but I think the best thing to do is to cut them as close to the weld as i can, and put a big glob of epoxy or silicon on top of the bare metal. Surely that will seal it off.

There are a lot of galvanized steel fish stock tanks. I used to have a few of them couple years back that I grew out LMB fry for the pond in. For these, I would seal them up with 1-3 coats of pond armour first

I was going to guess that it may be just plain old powder paint but if it is primed it wouldnt be that. From your description I am guessing the paint may have u v inhibitors so it may leech poisons in the water

I looked up the chemical resistance ratings from the factory.

First pic is how the test is conducted and for how long. Second pic is their number system for whether they recommend exposure to said chemical. Third pic is where i circled the rating for Distilled water, which happens to be right next to ethyl alcohol and ethylene glycol, all of which get a no deterioration rating at all.

Now it does give a lesser rating for Chlorine water 5-10ppm, but assuming the water is de-chlorinated this shouldn't be an issue right?

Sorry for the crap pics

So it is enamel. Plenty of dishes and mugs are painted with enamel.

I would consider coating the inside with something, but the pond stuff is kinda pricey in my opinion

Yeah I guess so, was that what you were asking?

I knew from building them almost daily that it was for sure paint over primer, sorry I wasn't able to be more specific.

Fill her up and put some feeders in there as a test.
Yeah I was kinda thinking the same thing, maybe throw some culls in there for a test run. I think it will be fine though.

I've been sick for like two weeks so hoping to get some work going on the enclosures soon, I will update

As for connecting the two tanks together you could use some clear PVC or acrylic and build a water bridge between the tanks , no drilling and you would be able to see the fry swimming from one tank to the other
