I’ve recently upgraded to a 75 and I want to dip my toes into something new apart from catfish. I figured a wolf might be a cool idea to build a tank around, however I’m looking for something a bit more interesting then A regular Ery Ery or sp. Peru/purple (IDK if they’re separate species) anyways thanks in advance!

Do have a picture of the white seam. I’ve also heard of Sp. Tahyua (I might have butchered the spelling) and how does their behavior differ from others?

Behavior is the same for all of the smaller ery sp. Although white seam owners claimed to be more aggressive.

I wouldn't say behavior is the same for all ery species, I'd say the variability within each species is the same. But for species such as kessleri and tahuayo, we can't say. Not enough reported. With a 75 I'd say your constricted to erythrinus species. I'd say you could have tankmates though if that helps.

hmm I'm definitely interested. I'll have to try and look into it myself a bit more, is there anywhere you'd recommend looking for info on them?

Now is there a particularly wide variation of behavior within the species or is it more generalized?

Not much info out there online but there have been memebers who’ve kept some in the forum years ago. Can search and gather that way.

As with any territorial species you can get a push over or a killer. Ime they were always on the smaller side of what I kept so I never went experienced them being killers as they were smaller then tank mates, they were push overs. My last purple was a punk in a 30b. Scared of me and tankmates, a 5” jag cat bullied it. Once into the 120 it challenged a 12” odoe and 9” gold wolf, was no longer scared of me, hovered at the top all day with the gold and odoe vs hiding in the darkest corner at the bottom in the 30. I’ve no idea why such the change in behavior.
