Hey everyone
I recently started keeping Flowerhorn cichlids and wanted to share a few things that really helped improve growth, color, and overall health. Maybe this can help other beginners too.
I also noticed that keeping stress low makes a huge difference in activity and kok growth. Mine became way more active after upgrading the tank space.
Would love to hear:
What food works best for kok growth?
Any tips for enhancing red coloration naturally?
How often do you guys do water changes?
Thanks everyone

I recently started keeping Flowerhorn cichlids and wanted to share a few things that really helped improve growth, color, and overall health. Maybe this can help other beginners too.
Things That Helped My Flowerhorn:
- High protein pellets twice daily
- Regular 30–40% water changes
- Stable temperature around 80–82°F
- Strong filtration system
- Good lighting for better color development
- Avoid overfeeding
I also noticed that keeping stress low makes a huge difference in activity and kok growth. Mine became way more active after upgrading the tank space.
My Current Setup:
- 75 Gallon Tank
- Sponge + Canister Filter
- Bare bottom setup
- Mixed pellet diet with occasional shrimp treats
