    Wels catfish, albino, ~10"

Just skimmed through this thread again and it's occurred that at ~4"-5' this must be one of the longest-documented growing -outs of a fish on mfk! Idk if that sentence makes any sense, but either way it's a testament to the dedication you not only put into keeping your animals, but also...

    Wels catfish, albino, ~10"

Awesome, Viktor. I assume its growth has slowed down significantly? Also, have you seen any seasonal variation in growth given the tropical climate at your location?

Official Off Topic Discussion Thread #1

How is everyone? Been a couple months out of the hobby for me now, but I still have some of my old fish at my old place that I haven't been able to find good homes for. Hope you're all doing alright.

Elopichthys Bambusa - Yellow Cheek Carp

Awesome, Ken. They must be among the biggest Bambusa kept by private owners by now.

Yup. Still have one tank setup cause I haven't been able to sell the inhabitants but after they're gone I'll be without a tank for the first time in decades.

What leaving the hobby (at least for a while) looks like...it hurts

Storing tanks for extended periods of time

Thanks for the reply. It would be stored in a garage and my main worry was the occasional severe freeze that brings temps below freezing even there - I was worried that might affect the tank negatively.

Storing tanks for extended periods of time

Hello everyone, after many years of uninterrupted fishkeeping (I've had tanks since I was a small child and will have been a member here for 11 years soon!), the time has now come at which, unfortunately, I have to get out of fishkeeping - at least for the time being. That being said, one of my...

    Freshwater Moray (gymnothorax polyuranodon)

I'd be careful saying stuff like that about morays lol they can squeeze through impossibly tiny gaps. Also they're quite strong so I'd weigh that down with something heavy.

    Wild Caught Malayan Golden

Wow, that is a stunning fish.

    Aquariums and gardening.

Absolutely love the idea, been toying with the idea of an indoor worm bin for a while now but always been hesitant because of the upkeep and the problems that arise when you don't keep up with it. (Mainly smell). So an outdoor solution is a great workaround! Personally I'm heavily into...

    Aquariums and gardening.

Yeah exactly the challenge is a bit part of the attraction to exotics - the other part of course being the fact they make you feel like you're on holiday :)

    House of dragon

That picture is even better than the first!

Fish that can eat fish as big as themselves??

Some of the predatory puffers are up there because they are among the only predatory fish that don't always swallow their prey whole - instead their beak-like front teeth will cut right through it. Funnily enough someone posted this video around the same time you made your post...

    Aquariums and gardening.

Great thread, some awesome pics being posted here! Gardening is actually one of my biggest hobbies along with fishkeeping and a couple others. I personally focus heavily on exotic plants i.e things you wouldn't expect in my location. Winters here are usually a warm USDA zone 7b, low...

Elopichthys Bambusa - Yellow Cheek Carp

Looking great as always. What prey size do you reckon they can manage to swallow? Their mouths look very small but you can see in fishing pics that they can extend them pretty well
