    What size pump for 2,000g

Looking for a pump to filter a 2,000g stock tank with viewing window. I was thinking about a Reeflo, but all the recent reviews claim they will leak. Apparently, Reeflo switched out the American-made Baldor pump, for a cheaper brand and many people claim they leak now. ABYZZ pumps are out of...

    How can I remove nitrates?

I’ve tried Purigen in a reactor before but the flow rate has to be so low that I don’t know if it’ll make a difference in a 500g system. Maybe I’ll grab some very fine mesh bags and throw it directly in the sump. I’ll have to look into nitra zorb! Thank you for the response!!

    How can I remove nitrates?

Thank you for the response! We have relatively soft water that I raise with crushed coral to maintain near 7.0. RO/DI system would be ideal for this situation but I don’t know if the fish can wait that long. I do use the API kit and agree I wish it was more precise with its measurements. I...

    How can I remove nitrates?

My town is currently ‘working’ on the water supply. My tap water Nitrate reading is 40-50ppm. I don’t know why it’s so high. (I believe safe tap water is under 10ppm) Yesterday My tank water was over 80ppm so I did a 75% water change and overdosed with Seachem Safe/Prime. Did not help. My...

    Pearl stopped Eating

No flukes as both gills seem to be ‘breathing’ fine. I treated with Metro and Prazi for parasites. But of course the possibility is always there. I will get a video after work. I’ll try to record one of these ‘playful attacks’ from the hybrid BD. She might have to be removed due to aggression

    Pearl stopped Eating

Can’t figure out what’s going on with my pearl ray. Seems weak and lethargic. Eats a little but not like he used to. He seems to be having trouble staying flat on the bottom. Water parameters are good via API test kit. I have a female BD hybrid that can be mildly aggressive and hover over...

Convince me to stay fresh water on my 400g

Dang you guys are good. This is very true. But water changes wouldn't be nearly as frequent as fresh, no? hahaha it sounds like buying a boat, no thanks! Good recommendations. I have had a few of those combos are they were very entertaining Thats scary. Creating A salt water ecosystem...

Convince me to stay fresh water on my 400g

I would have serious water movement. I don't know how I'd keep the sand from moving. maybe bare bottom? Good idea about the cured live rock. I plan on taking it very slowly anyway so bacteria will have plenty of time to establish. getting all equipment, test kits, and supplements in order. then...

Convince me to stay fresh water on my 400g

All very true but once the initial cost of setup, water changes wouldn't be nearly as frequent as fresh water? Some salt water experience but never close to this size. And fish only Not talking a full blown reef tank. Mainly fowlr with hardy corals. my main concern is how much maintenance...

Convince me to stay fresh water on my 400g

Moving soon and I'm going to have to sell my current fresh water stock (don't want to risk them during the move) and start from scratch with an 8x3 footprint. Seeing some of the salt water tanks makes it hard to not want a Marine tank. But a salt tank with no corals and just live rock is dark...
