    Removing Paint from Acrylic

So if I'm going to be buffing anyway there may be no reason to try to use a water based stripper... I need to clean the tank up to decide if I need to buff the whole thing.

    Removing Paint from Acrylic

I was thinking about some kind of solvent permanently hazing the acrylic that maybe couldn't be buffed out. I MAY want to buff out some scratches on the other panels... But you're saying a 600 to 4000 full sand/buff should be how to handle the paint too?

Along those lines - any help finding the "best" acrylic buffing post would be great.

White bottom for acrylic bare bottom

About to set up my new/used 450g. The paper was left on the bottom of the tank by the previous owner. It's not in perfect condition so I'd rather not leave it as is where I can see ripped paper through the bottom. I will absolutely be leaving it bare bottom. I know I've researched and removed...

    Removing Paint from Acrylic

I just bought a used 450g acrylic. The sides are painted black. The owner wasn't one of us lol... He didn't know what kind of paint it was. Suggestions on what I should use to remove it that won't damage the acrylic beyond repair? I may be buffing the whole thing anyway so I really just don't...

    K1 Moving Bed in a 40g breeder

I've currently got a 30g sump. It's a typical sump with a small settling chamber overflowing in to filter socks, under a baffle to the main media chamber and then a over and under baffles to the pump chamber. I run it nearly full with about 60lpm of air fluidizing the center section with k1. I...

API Proper PH 7.5 - phosphate buffer

Keeping ph low with an acid could be an option... but seems like it would be less stable than trying to buffer it closer to what it is out of my tap. I want to limit my ph delta through a water change to less than .1. The tank normally runs 7.4 because I run a lot of crushed coral, including...

What size sump for 200 gallon?

Lava rock and pumice work. Sure. Pot scrubbies work. Gravel works. If I have the money to buy another tank, I will also have the money to not use lava rock or pumice. I've used lava rock. i have SOME now. I've used bio balls. I've used scrubbies. I will not get another tank without k1. All of...

What size sump for 200 gallon?

In general at least 20% but it also depends on how its designed and used. I'd get the biggest box you can put in your stand. The sump on my 120g is 30g used nearly full and I feel like I need more.

API Proper PH 7.5 - phosphate buffer

Does anyone have experience using this??? I have soft water that comes out of the tap at 7.2 or so and gases down slightly to 7.0. With loads of crushed coral in the sump and a fluidized filter with crushed coral the tank tops at 7.4. I do 20% water changes every other day or so and it drops to...

    Fluidized Sand

Anyone really familiar with them? Seems like it's relatively the most compact way to get the most surface area. I've got a manifold already and plenty of pump to power it. I'm talking about something holding 2 gallons or so of volume. I guess I have space for more than that but that's about the...
