    What kind of gar?

There is a nature center in the same town I live in where they have a very large fish tank as well as many other tanks. The main display features a large gar, a bowfin, a few LG bass, a couple Crappie, a flathead cat, a Channel cat, and a carp. The gar they have displayed I believe is a...

    Id?

Yes, I noticed a couple white spots when I came home from vacation. It's been going through ick treatment! 😊 thanks anyways, though! Sent from my iPhone using MonsterAquariaNetwork app

    PBass Growth

I plan on moving him up to a 55 with some other SA cichlids, and keep moving up from there until it gets up to a 180. Sent from my iPhone using MonsterAquariaNetwork app

    Id?

I've posted this before, but now that the fish is a bit larger I'm wondering if it is easier to identify. All of these pictures are of the same fish even though it's pattern changes drastically occasionally. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using MonsterAquariaNetwork app

    PBass Growth

Plus, the 10 gallon makes it much easier to keep at very specific conditions that the young peacock bass seem to need. From my experience, at a young age their tank must be absolutely perfect for their needs, but as soon as they reach 6" or so, they do not require quite as much advanced care...

    PBass Growth

If I had more fish, I would start it in a larger tank, but the PBass is one of three small fish in the tank. The tank is VERY much temporary as the PBass will probably be ready to be moved in a week or so. I just want to make sure it is at a good size and healthy enough to compete for food to...

    PBass Growth

Nice fish! The tank is only a 10 gallon as a grow out, same as my LFS. There is only one PBass in my tank though, compared to 3 PBass that were at the LFS. Maybe the lack of competition for food is causing it to grow faster? I also keep my tank at 78-80 degrees which may also help the growth...

    PBass Growth

Hi everyone! Happy fish keeping! So I bought an itsy bitsy baby PBass about a week ago. At the LFS, they all were pretty small and rather skinny. I bought the fish along with 25 feeder guppies, it ate for a couple days, and then I went on a five day vacation. When I arrived home, I discovered...

    Wild Caught YOY Gar

Out on the lake yesterday I ran across 17 little baby gar. Each fish ranged from around 1.5" to 4" long. I decided I'd take 3 of the young fish home. One of the fish is a definite longnose, the only definite L. osseus that I seemed to find. The other two appear to be shortnose gars, much like...

New Shortnose Gar - Update on Tropical Gars

I love all of your gars! I cannot seem to find a shortnose, here in Minnesota, but hopefully someday I can add one to my collection! I love how many pattern variants there are with the shortnose gars, not as many as the trops, though. Good luck with them! Keep sharing!

    Gar identification

You can tell its an alligator gar because of the thicker snout, body shape, and the pattern. It is not rare to see these guys with the dark coloring, although it is my favorite (besides the gold variants and "snow" variants that are extremely rare and can run around $10,000). They normally grow...

    Gar breeding project

Our LFS used to sell native fish, but they said they had to purchase like a $50 permit to do so, and I believe the breeder they used needed a permit as well. I don't think you need a permit if you were to just privately sell them here on MFK, though, and I think a lot of members here would be...

    Gar breeding project

Sometime in the future you should consider selling some baby TRUE spotted gars. I know quite a lot of people may want to get their hands on them! ;) Congrats and good luck with raising those little guys!

    Help ID young PBass

Thanks for the feedback, is there a possible Kelberi hybrid common in the fish trade? I know that the common farm fish is Mono/Ocell but I don't think I've ever heard of a Kelberi hybrid. Does anyone have any insight on this?
